शाही बुर्ज़ - शाहजहाँ का निजी कार्य क्षेत्र

अक्सर लोग आगरा के लाल किले को भ्रमित होकर दिल्ली के लाल किले से तुलना कर बैठते हैं, लेकिन मुगलों द्वारा स्थापित लाल किले को वास्तव में मुगल लाल हवेली कहकर बुलाते थे। आगरा का लाल किला मुगल स्थापत्य की बेहतरीन कलाओं में से एक आदर्श है। यदि इतिहास को देखते हुए भारत को मेहलों अथवा किलों का देश कहा दिया है, तो इसमें कोई दो राय नहीं होगी। कहा जाता है कि भारत पर आक्रमण करने के पश्चात मुगलों ने आगरा के लाल किले को अपना आवास बनाया था। कुछ साक्ष्यों के अनुसार यह कहा जाता है कि बाबर से लेकर उनके वंशज औरंगजेब तक सभी मुगल सम्राट यहां पर निवास कर चुके हैं।

 आगरा के किले के अंदर अमर द्वार से प्रवेश करते ही आप को यह महल दिखाई देगा इस महल का नाम अकबर के बेटे जहाँगीर के नाम पर रखा है इस महल को एक महिला क्वार्टर के रूप में बनवाया था.

इसके बाद मुगल सम्राट अकबर के पोते शाहजहां को इस किले का उत्तराधिकारी बनाया और शाहजहां ने अपने शासनकाल में इस किले को सफेद संगमरमर के पत्थरों से बनवाया.
